Resin Brewing founders and brewmasters Brendan and Steve are all about the beer. So we created a ‘beery’ brand for them.
The duo’s vision was a contemporary family-friendly gathering place that’s a destination for locals and craft beer lovers alike. They bought a derelict railway guesthouse at Bulli and turned it into the Resin Flagship: an independent brewery and brewpub serving elemental beers brewed onsite. They’ve pulled out all stops to create an amazing destination bar. Believe us, it’s only a matter of time before the whole world discovers it – and their beers.
With peak craft beer on the horizon, the Resin brand had to speak to everyone and help novice drinkers get their bearings in a fickle world bursting with brands and beer styles.
We decided to take a ‘beer, essentially’ approach. Fun, inclusive and downright frothy, the brand’s elemental visual identity system takes its cues from brewing itself, with effervescent pattern work that evokes the pleasures of making and drinking the foamy stuff.
The brand’s strong neutral base is the foundation for a more colorful palette that draws from the spectacular landscape of the Illawarra region where the beer is made. Here the mountains meet the sea to create a playground for things that make you go aaaaahhh: surfing, mountain biking, hiking, running and of course relaxing with a cold one.
To help drinkers find their brew, we developed an identity system that clearly differentiates beer styles so Resin’s lineup can rock it with more colour and personality on coasters, taps and beer cans.
We also developed a direct and inclusive voice and messaging built around the idea of being ‘in your element’ as you enjoy a Resin beer with mates or family.
