In an earlier phase of this work, we created the brand strategy and visual identity for The Golden Thread. We also built a sales website where people and organisations can learn about the company’s online courses and sign up for a free trial or subscription. You can see this work here.
It was time to turn our attention to the company’s first course, Life Journey Skills. The course focuses on helping people, leaders and teams build practical life skills so they can attain their goals for life, relationships and work. The founders were already working with a video production team. We joined the workgroup as brand advisers and content development experts.
Our remit was to help polish the rough cuts of the online learning videos to make them more interesting, digestible and memorable. As a first step, we proposed aligning them with the brand already developed by replacing stock photography, graphics and animations with a custom style and visuals.
We also provided content development and advice on format, pacing, voice, script, graphics, presenter wardrobe and visual style. To guide the video production team and other experts working on the brand, we produced a comprehensive brand kit that gathered all the brand information in one place.
As part of ongoing brand development, we recommended creating custom animations to make the video content more engaging. To achieve this, we designed an illustration style aligned with the brand identity. We animated the brand’s golden thread device into fluid illustrations that bring concepts to life.
We also developed appealing custom characters that can be used statically or animated to illustrate fundamental ideas in an engaging way. These friendly characters became integral to the brand experience and will be used on all digital materials, including the brand’s website and social media.
With the signup website already built, we needed an off-the-shelf e-learning platform where the courses could be hosted. Successful signups would be directed there to set up their account and begin their learning journey.
We provided consultancy and advisory services to help the founders analyse available online e-learning platforms and make an informed choice. We researched options against the company’s business requirements and specifications, including constraints and budget.
Their choice was Teachable. It provides pre-made architecture to publish, host and market online courses cost-effectively with plenty of headroom for the future. The platform’s e-commerce features are backed by management tools and customer support.
On this foundation, we built a complete e-learning platform for The Golden Thread and published the first digital course, Life Journey Skills, now available to subscribers.
We also gave the founder’s book, 'Life Journey Skills', a fresh new look to better resonate with today's readers. This book dives deep into the course material, offering additional insights and guidance. Our redesign features a striking new cover that showcases the brand’s distinctive style with reformatted text pages for improved legibility throughout. The second edition, now available on Amazon with an impressive 4.7 rating, is enriched with hundreds of our newly designed grayscale illustrations, tailored specifically for print.
